Labour Statistician, International Labour Office

The position is located in the ILO Decent Work Technical Support Team for West Africa and Country Office for Senegal, Cabo Verde, Gambia, Guinea and Guinea-Bissau (DWT/CO-Dakar). The DWT/CO-Dakar provides overall technical support for the preparation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Decent Work Country Programmes in 15 countries. The DWT/CO-Dakar also provides strategic guidance in formulating policy and work programmes as required by the ILO country offices and the constituents in West Africa in close collaboration with the ILO Regional Office for Africa, and headquarters technical departments.
The incumbent will be responsible for providing technical advisory services in the field of labour and decent work statistics and supporting relevant technical cooperation projects in the region. The position is the focal point in DWT/CO-Dakar for a coordinated network of statistical activities managed by the Department of Statistics (STATISTICS) that include: (1) compilation and dissemination of labour and decent work statistics, (2) provision of technical assistance to countries and constituents, (3) setting international standards related to decent work and labour statistics and (4) capacity building in quantitative skills.
Under the framework of the Global Technical Team (GTT) for Statistics, the position will report to the Director of DWT/CO-Dakar and will receive technical guidance and advice from the Director of STATISTICS. He/she is expected to collaborate with other members of the DWT/CO and GTT for Statistics, including the Regional Labour Statistician.
