A PhD scholarship is available for an exceptional student to complete a PhD as part of a National Health and Medical Research Council Centre of Research Excellence for the Study of Naevi. The scholarship is available to undertake a PhD, which will focus on assessing changes in melanocytic naevi on the skin (also called moles) over time, and the influence of body site, skin type and other personal characteristics on these changes. Large numbers of naevi on the skin is one of the strongest risk factors for melanoma, the most serious type of skin cancer, so it is hoped that this project will add insight into melanoma causation.
Desirable:
* Knowledge of epidemiological and statistical research methods;
* Knowledge of systematic reviews and evidence synthesis;
* Experience with databases and data analysis.
Scholarship Details
* Students will receive an annual living allowance of $22,647, paid fortnightly for up to 3 years.
* Students will receive a CRE top-up to their scholarship, each year of $5000.
* Students have access to CRE internally competitive travel and grant rounds.
* The scholarship is tax exempt.
* The scholarship duration is up to 3 years (2017–2019). QUT has the strong expectation that you will complete your work and submit your thesis for external examination within this timeframe.
