The Instituto de Ciencias Fisicas of the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de
Mexico (ICF-UNAM), at the Morelos campus in the city of Cuernavaca, invites
applications for a postdoctoral position in the area of general relativity
and cosmology.
Candidates must hold a PhD title obtained after September 2012. The ideal
candidate should have a strong, internationally recognized record in one or
more of the following areas: gravitational wave source modelling and
astrophysics, numerical relativity, alternative theories of gravity,
gravitational collapse and black holes, early universe cosmology and large
scale structure formation. Strong candidates in other areas of cosmology
are also encouraged to apply.
Emphasis of this position will be on the modelling of compact objects as
sources of gravitational waves in general relativity and modified theories
of gravity including interactions with fundamental fields.
The successful candidate will be collaborating with the research group
members including Juan Carlos Degollado, Gabriel German and Juan Carlos
Hidalgo. The candidate is expected to keep a high publication rate and to
participate in the group activities. The initial appointment is for one
plus one years, and could start as early as 2017 September. Salary and
benefits are competitive (comparable to national fellowships).
