Hi Sarah
Some solders produce Colophony which is a respiratory sensitizer, so I would
be undertaking a respiratory questionnaire and lung function at
Commencement, 6 weeks after employment 3 months 6 months and then annually.
Also because of the synergistic relationship between respiratory and skin I
would be checking skin as well
Kind reagrds
Karen

Subject: [OCC-HEALTH] Soldering
I would be very interested to hear from anyone who has risk assessed and
dealt with health hazards from soldering and the associated health
surveillance initiated. I understand that lead free solder actually
increases the risk of health hazards due to the higher temperatures used -
I'm in an environment which does a lot of work with printed circuit boards.
Many thanks
