Dear all,

As you will see from call for expressions of interest below, after a
staggering 20 years plus, we have taken the decision to stand down as
editors of Convergence and are looking for expressions of interest in
taking over the editorship. It has been an incredible journey for us both,
but the time has come to hand over to new editors.

If any of you are interested in responding to the call either
individually, or as part of an editorial team please feel free to email
us before registering a formal interest. Please also share the call with
anyone you think might be interested.

We¹d also like to take this opportunity of thanking researchers, referees
and subscribers for your support of and interest in Convergence over the
years, it has been very much appreciated.

Kind regards
Julia Knight and Alexis Weedon

Editorship of Convergence:
Call for Applications

For more than 20 years Convergence has been committed to publishing
quality peer-reviewed articles on new media technologies, charting new
questions and new research, and mapping the transformation of the
discipline in the years to come. The journal publishes six times a year in
print and online at http://journals.sagepub.com/home/con.

The founding Editors, Professors Julia Knight and Alexis Weedon, are
stepping down at the end of 2017. Applications are therefore sought for
new Editors, who will work closely with the current Editors, Publisher,
and editorial board during a 6-month hand-over period. We welcome
applications from individuals, as well as joint applications from people
wishing to apply as an editorial team.

Convergence is an international peer-reviewed academic journal which was
set up in 1995 to address the creative, social, political and pedagogical
issues raised by the advent of new media technologies. As an international
research journal, edited from the UK, it has provided a forum both for
monitoring and exploring developments, and for publishing vital research.
Adopting an inter-disciplinary approach across the arts and humanities
Convergence has developed this area into an entirely new research field.

All editorial work, including the preliminary reading of articles
submitted, the assessment of articles in the light of peer-review
reports, and the final verdict on publication based on authors' responses
to editorial and peer-review comments, is carried out online, on the SAGE
Track manuscript submission website. Correspondence with authors and
selection of and
communication with peer-reviewers is carried out by the Editors, while
book reviews are handled separately by the Book Reviews Editor.

Responsibilities are shared jointly between the Editors and include:
· Contributing to the strategic development of the Journal
· Actively soliciting submissions and identifying opportunities for
special issues
· Managing the receipt and peer review of scholarly submissions,
liaising with authors, and exercising responsibility for the selection and
revision of articles
· Managing and developing the editorial board
· Liaison with SAGE, ensuring the delivery of copy according to
agreed production schedules
· Representing the Journal and promoting it whenever possible, with
the support of the SAGE marketing team
Essential Requirements:
· General knowledge of the academic field as a whole
· Ability to work under pressure, meet responsibilities effectively,
and meet deadlines
· Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team
· Good organizational abilities

The new editorial position(s) will be available from the 1st July 2017,
working with the current Editors before a full
handover beginning from 1st January 2018. The Publisher is seeking an
initial 35 year commitment. SAGE invites expressions of interest by 31st
March 2017. Those interested in making an application should send a brief
CV, supported by a letter that outlines their experience and ability to
perform the role and whether they are part of a proposed team or are
applying individually but are
(or are not) willing to work with other editor(s). Expressions should
specifically address the applicants¹ aims and vision for the Journal over
the term of editorship.

All enquiries and expressions of interest should be directed via email in
the first instance to:
Alexis Weedon (Convergence Co-editor: [log in to unmask]) and James
Skelding Tattle (SAGE Publishing Editor:
[log in to unmask])
