The Health Libraries Group Committee is delighted to announce funding for two bursaries to support HLG members to attend the International Congress of Medical Librarianship (ICML) + European Association for Health Information and Libraries (EAHIL) in Dublin between 14th & 16th June.
Each bursary will include:
• Cost of full registration at Early Bird rate (€400)
• Up to £400 travel / accommodation expenses
Guide for Applicants
• The 2017 EAHIL Bursaries are open to CILIP Health Libraries Group full members. The award is not open to HLG student members
• Funding is available for attendance at the International Congress of Medical Librarianship (ICML) +European Association for Health Information and Libraries (EAHIL), 14 – 16 June 2017 / Dublin Castle / Ireland. The award will cover the cost of full registration at the advertised Early Bird rate and up to £400 travel / accommodation expenses.
• Applicants will need to confirm whether any additional funding is being received from an alternative source.
• Applicants should confirm that they will be able to attend the conference if successful and, where applicable, that their line manager has given approval for them to attend.
• The value of the award is at the discretion of the Health Libraries Group Committee. The Committee’s decision is final and no correspondence can be entered into. The Committee reserves the right not to award the Bursaries.
• Deadline for receipt of applications is 28th February. Applicants will be notified as soon as possible after the decision is made.
• A condition of being awarded funding is that recipients will share their experiences with HLG members and that a meeting report, conforming to the guidelines on the HLG website, is produced.
Application process

• A brief CV (max 3 pages) including your CILIP / HLG membership number
• A personal statement of up to 1000 words addressing the following:
a) Why should the CILIP Health Libraries Group fund you?
Give examples of your professional engagement and how you might share your learning with colleagues.
b) What do you hope to gain from attendance?
Where possible please reflect on the programme and consider how your attendance at this specific conference is particularly relevant to this stage of your career.
Applicants should confirm that they will be able to attend the conference if successful and, where applicable, indicate that their line manager has given approval for them to attend.
Applications must be received by 17.00 on Tuesday 28th February 2017.
Judging Criteria
The judging panel will consider how applicants
• have demonstrated their professional engagement within health libraries
• intend to share their learning with colleagues
• have reflected on the potential benefits of attendance
• demonstrate the relevance of attending the conference
Preference will be given to applicants who have not previously been a recipient of an HLG Bursary.
