***With apologies for cross-posting***
Cardiff University’s 4th edition of the Handbook for Information Literacy Teaching (HILT) at http://sites.cardiff.ac.uk/ilrb/handbook/ is now available. HILT has been completely revised to base the advice clearly on accepted pedagogical theory, with new practical examples to reflect developments in teaching approaches at Cardiff. Also, the new edition has also moved to an online-only format within the platform of via our redeveloped Information Literacy Resource Bank (ILRB) T http://sites.cardiff.ac.uk/ilrb/, to facilitate the updating of the content as our thinking and practice evolve.
The new ILRB is a completely re-imagined platform which brings together all our shareable resources relating to information literacy. So here you will find not only HILT but also the Resource Hub, which is packed with materials such as images, videos and tutorials designed to convey a wide range of information literacy concepts – through engaging formats – such as ‘critical analysis’, ‘collaborating / communicating’ and ‘writing, media production and presenting’. The ILRB also hosts our Information Literacy Framework for subject librarians at Cardiff University. This provides context and structure for our endeavours and is itself supported by integral links to relevant practical examples, which librarians can use to enrich their teaching, at relevant points within the framework.
Most materials are freely available for reuse or adaptation with acknowledgement of Cardiff University as the originator, by means of Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licences.
We’d be pleased to know what you think, and welcome your views on the new resources via the comments form on the introductory page to each chapter of HILT.
