The Anthropology and Archaeology of Love
The 4th edition of the meeting "Anthropology and Archaeology in Comparison" this year is dedicated to the Anthropology and Archaeology of love. It will be held, from May 26th to 28th 2017, within the larger event, RomArché 8. Archaeology speaks, promoted by Dià Cultura Foundation and hosted at Parco Regionale dell'Appia Antica (Rome, Italy).
The Conference was conceived with the goal of examining, in depth, the often ambiguous significance of the concept of love, exploring its furthermost frontiers as well as recognising and comprehending issues that come to light as a result of our anthropological and archaeological investigations, following the formula we have, ever since 2010, adopted for our conferences, the aim of which has always been to stimulate dialectic and constructive dialogue between our different branches of knowledge. The hope is that each of our different points of view can contribute to achieving a better understanding of the roots and motivations behind human actions and emotions.
We will accept papers and poster's proposals that develop the themes indicated in the call from the archaeological, anthropological (physical and cultural), sociological, psychological and biological point of view, as long as they are keen to spark an interdisciplinary debate both constructive and innovative.
The meeting includes 6 thematic sessions structured as follows:
1. The idea and perception of love
2. Love gestures, signs and expressions
3. Love and its ["dangerous"] relationships
4. Love "genders"
5. Love times and rituals
6. Love spaces and places
The deadline for the delivery of papers/posters proposals is set for March 20th2017.
Accepted languages are Italian, English and French; as every year there are no registration fees.
