Does anyone have information or perhaps knowledgeable contacts concerning the Louisa lead mine or other mines at Foxdale?
I am tracing the career of Jonathan Harrison, who appears to have made significant developments at Snailbeach mine, Shropshire in the 1840s. (See British Mining 78)
He was living quite near Foxdale, where at nearby Patrick parish church he married Emma Grose, a Cornish-born member of a mining family in April 1835. Louisa mine closed that year, but already had several shafts including one named 'Harrison'. This seems rather a coincidence! In 1836 the Harrisons were living at Llanidloes and he was perhaps working at Bryntail.
Evidence is needed to show Jonathan Harrison working at Louisa, and even sinking the shaft, to confirm the connection. Can anybody help, please?
Best regards, all,
Andy Cuckson
