The School of Geographical Sciences, the only UK geography department
to have been ranked in the top category in every UK national research
assessment exercise and research excellence framework assessment,
seeks a motivated and talented scholar to join it at the lecturer
level as a member of the Spatial Modelling Group (SMG).
The School holds a departmental Bronze Athena SWAN Award. We are
committed to the equality of opportunities and to selection on merit.
The University has a wide range of policies aimed at supporting staff
in work. Please see http://www.bristol.ac.uk/equalityanddiversity/ for
further details.
The group has strong expertise in statistical modelling and applied
geographical data analysis and is seeking to extend its work into
aspects of big data, urban analytics, geovisualisation, and the
analysis of large and complex datasets. Applicants will be expected to
demonstrate how advanced methodological techniques can be applied to
substantive problems in areas such as economic development, politics,
inequality, migration, health, urbanisation, segregation, or
environmental policy, all broadly defined. Applicants from cognate
disciplines to geography are welcome to apply.
This Lectureship offers an exciting opportunity to join this
innovative research group and to contribute to future developments in
the School of Geographical Sciences. Applicants will have an emerging
international reputation for research (or will be able to demonstrate
a capacity to build such a reputation) and an excellent record of
publication for their career stage.
