We’re looking for a Public Engagement Development Manager to manage a portfolio of grant-funded public engagement projects and to deliver activity supporting development of the science communication sector. The principle area of responsibility will be to lead the Inspiring Science Fund (ISF) over the next four years.
You will:
- advise applicants to ensure a wide range of high-quality proposals, informed by best practice from across the sector
- manage collaboration with colleagues from the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy to ensure positive and productive input into all aspects of the scheme
- communicate the scheme priorities to the sector through events and marketing activity
- oversee and optimise the application, review and decision-making process
- set up processes for monitoring, reporting and evaluation to ensure impact and outcomes can be measured at both project and portfolio levels
- support applicants in audience development, updating of content and renewal of revenue-raising commercial facilities to increase the impact of their work and develop their long-term stability
- manage the scheme budget of £30 million and ensure it is spent by 2021
- participate in funding/interview committee meetings, providing feedback to applicants, acting as secretary to the funding committee and liaising with the Chair.
You will be part of the Engaging Science team in our Public Engagement department. You'll work closely with colleagues across Public Engagement, Grants Management, Education and Learning, and Communications.
