There is one week to go for applications to the post of Post-Doctoral Research Assistant: Sport & Physical Activity at Bournemouth University working on the AHRC funded research project titled 'Re-presenting para-sport bodies: Disability and the cultural legacy of the Paralympics’.
This is an interdisciplinary project and so the post would be suitable for anyone with a background in the social sciences, particularly media, communication, sociology or sport and leisure studies.

A Post-Doctoral Research Assistant in sport & physical activity is sought to work on the AHRC funded research project titled: Re-presenting para-sport bodies: Disability and the cultural legacy of the Paralympics (AH/P003842/1). The post-doctoral researcher will be expected to carry out research in the scope of the research programme (including interview, focus group, document/archival/media analysis and creative production) addressing issues relating to Para-sport broadcasting and social change. In particular, the appointed candidate will be expected to assist in qualitative data collection and analysis related to how audiences make meaning from para-sport media, analyse para-sport broadcasts and production data, and collaborate with artists/film-makers in the development of creative outputs. The successful candidate will be encouraged to publish in academic journals with the project team, disseminate project outcomes to partners and interested bodies and display initiative throughout the life of the project.
You will be qualified to Doctorate level, research active and committed to a culture of academic excellence and continuous improvement. We encourage candidates to apply who are experienced in qualitative research methods and analysis and who have detailed empirical/theoretical understanding of the cultural politics of para-sport, people with disabilities, media production and consumption, and/or the development of creative outputs. A previous track record in the conceptual, theoretical and contextual understandings of para-sport bodies will be valuable, however not be necessary. The post holder will be expected to seek significant scholarly advances and novel directions in their post, and will actively take part, and lead the development of research publications, especially for high impact publications and policy outlets. The appointee will also expected to attend conferences, visit partner institutions and give seminars and conference presentations, for which funding will be provided.
