2-year Postdoctoral Research Assistantship --- Two-Phase Models of Temperate Ice
We are looking to appoint a postdoc to work in the Department of Earth Sciences, University of Oxford, starting as early as 1 May 2017. The postdoc will work with Profs Richard Katz and Ian Hewitt to develop analytical and computational two-phase models for temperate ice deformation. The project is jointly funded by NERC & NSF, and is in collaboration with experimentalists (Profs. Neal Iverson, Iowa State and Luke Zoet, UW-Madison), who will be studying temperate ice deformation using a rotary device. The postdoc will use computational models to help interpret the experimental results, and to investigate the role of internal meltwater in high-shear zones of ice sheets, such as in ice-stream margins.
