A reminder of the first RSS Leeds Bradford local group seminar of 2017 taking place on 25th January about Transport and Statistics. The meeting will be held at School of Geography, University of Leeds.

Open source software for statistics and transport: a match made in heaven?
This talk will look at the overlaps and differences in the software needs of statisticians and transport planners. It will consist of three main parts: 1) an overview of the growth of open source tools in statistics, with a focus on R; 2) an exploration of the statistical computing needs of transport planners; and 3) a case study of the stplanr R package. The talk will include a live demo of the Propensity to Cycle Tool (PCT) to show how software can enable statistics to have real-world impact.
