This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Statistician to work with Dr Adrian Mander, Director of Hub for Trials Methodology Research to be the trial statistician for NIHR funded grant "Developing primary care services for stroke survivors". The post-holder will join the Design and Analysis of Randomised Trials theme of the MRC Biostatistics Unit at the University of Cambridge. Currently the group has a large number of researchers investigating adaptive clinical trials, trials within cohorts and designs for biomarker studies.
We are seeking to appoint a part-time research associate in Biostatistics who will be the trial statistician. A new intervention, `Managing Life After Stroke' will be evaluated in a cluster randomised trial and this should lead to better long term meeting of patient needs, better coordination with specialist services, and easier mechanisms for stroke survivors to re-access specialist services if required. The 'Managing Life After Stroke' programme if it works will enable stroke survivors and their carers to be better informed about stroke, how to cope with its effects, and how best to reduce risk of further stroke.
You will have a MSc or PhD in statistics, a strong statistical computing and programming background, and have an interest in supporting a large trial from conception to reporting. Experience in clinical trials methodology is a bonus but more importantly you should have solid experience in Medical Statistics. You must have good communication skills and be able to contribute substantially to the writing of scientific papers.
The MRC Biostatistics Unit aims to advance medical science by the development, application and dissemination of statistical methods. It is one of Europe's leading biostatistics research institutions and includes many internationally renowned statisticians. It provides a privileged environment for conducting research within the Cambridge biomedical environment.
