Working as part of the National Trust internal consultancy in the North Region the post will be based in Hub office at Grasmere, The Lakes; where this dramatic landscape gives rise the our largest single property holding. This is a hugely exciting role full of opportunities in a dynamic region, which together with an equivalent post based in York, covers the full expanse.
The successful applicant will provide an invaluable internal consultancy service in GIS, GNSS, information management, analysis, interpretation and project based work as well as day to day support to meet the varying needs and demands of our property teams. This will also include a professional proactive approach, which best informs the various different teams and provision of training in areas, which aids self-sufficiency. This post supports other spatial data system users on our intranet GIS map Browser, ArcGIS and field-based surveys using professional grade GNSS.
The National Trust has a requirement to maintain datasets pertaining to their legally defined estates and the various management components in which it is divided. Typically this will be to provide tenancy boundaries, acquisition, disposal and ownership, inalienability and grant application boundaries. As a Conservation Data Manager (CDM) in the North you will be responsible for these regional datasets and from this providing management information for local decision making at our properties.
There is a high level of skill required for this legally binding work as it requires understanding, training and experience in using GIS and in additional in-house and external data systems. Having responsibility for the North component of key national datasets requires a meticulous attention to detail which is a fundamental requirement for the role. Boundaries from these datasets can be directly used to produce maps requiring good cartographic and presentation skills, and the ability to manipulate the datasets to generate clear informative outputs.
This is a permanent full-time post (37.5 hours per week) and an ideal opportunity for a skilled professional to provide a full information management service, working in a beautiful area and within a large conservation charity looking after special places for everyone.
