eCraft2Learn is a funded €2 million, ICT 22 Technologies for Learning and Skills, Horizon 2020 Project.
As Post-Doctoral Research Assistant, you will research, design, develop, evaluate and report on methods, outcomes and impacts for the H2020 eCraft2Learn project.
The eCraft2Learn project will research, design, pilot and validate an ecosystem based on digital fabrication and making technologies for creating computer-supported artefacts. The project aims at reinforcing personalised learning and teaching in science, technology, engineering, arts and
math (STEAM) education and to assist the development of 21st century skills that promote inclusion and employability for youth in the EU. The eCraft2Learn ecosystem will support both formal and informal learning by providing the appropriate digital fabrication, making technologies, and programming tools. It will also incorporate mechanisms for personalised and adaptive learning.
As Post-Doctoral Research Assistant you will contribute to the development of future STEAM learning scenarios. You will conduct the field study and ethnographic observation in formal and informal learning environments to gather data to inform the design process. The project is deeply rooted on the participatory design approach, as such, you will contribute to the design, conduction, and analysing of data of participatory design activities. You will contribute to the architecture analysis, the design, and the development of digital and physical interfaces and systems to support STEAM in informal and formal learning contexts.
The candidate should have a Ph.D. or substantial R&D industry experience. Candidate should have a background in more than one of the following disciplines: cognitive sciences, psychology, anthropology, ethnography, electronic or electrical engineer, software design or engineer, computer engineering, computer science, human-computer interaction, science, and education.
You have substantial publications in top scientific journals and top conference venues (e.g. DIS, CHI, CSCW). You have experience in multidisciplinary and international research projects (e.g. FP7, H2020).

At the School of Art and Design, at the University of Dundee you will be part of a growing multidisciplinary and international interaction design research group. The position is available until 31 December 2018.
Appointment as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant on the Grade 7 salary scale is dependent upon you having been awarded a PhD. An appointment may be considered if you are shortly expected to be awarded a PhD. The initial appointment will be made as a Research Assistant on the Training Grade 7 salary scale (Spinal Point 28, £30,175).
