Hi Sandie,
I have written a couple of articles about New Zealand picturebooks (which include Gavin Bishop's 'House that Jack built') for 'Children's Literature in Education' and 'Bookbird'. If you would like more détails, let me know.
I have also just reviewed an excellent article about Bishop's book. Again, if you would like to know more, I can send you détails.
You might also like to look at the NZPBC (http://www.picturebooks.co.nz/), particularly http://www.picturebooks.co.nz/2010/11/the-house-that-jack-built/
Best regards,

Subject: Re: A query about 'The House that Jack Built'
Hi Sandy,
At the IBBY Congress in Auckland this summer, Vivien Van Rij from New Zealand talked about Gavin Bishop's take on The House that Jack Built. I'm not sure if Vivien's published anything on the book, she may have - the presentation was very good indeed. (And so is Bishop's book about the colonization of New Zealand.)
Season's greetings,

Dear all,
I am preparing a piece on picturebooks of ‘The House that Jack Built’ and can’t find anything that has looked at this previosuly. I wanted to check with the list and its collective knowledge: does anyone know of any research into the nursery rhyme ‘The House that Jack Built’ and resulting picturebooks or illustrations?
Many thanks in advance.
Sandie
