New publications:
1) An extraordinary series of international meetings took place in 2016 to respond to perceptions of an unprecedented global refugee crisis. Georgetown Professor Elizabeth Ferris examines the implications of this year's historic meetings in a new Policy Brief published by the Kaldor Centre for International Refugee Law, entitled, In search of commitments: The 2016 refugee summits.
Professor Ferris is an internationally respected forced migration expert, who played an integral role in the UN Summit on Refugees and Migrants in September, and participated in each of the key 2016 summits. Her Policy Brief essential reading for anyone thinking, 'What next?' for the global response to displacement. It can be downloaded here: http://www.kaldorcentre.unsw.edu.au/publication/policy-brief-3-search-commitments-2016-refugee-summits
As she finished the policy brief, Donald Trump was elected President of the United States and the Oxford Dictionaries declared 'post-truth' its word of the year, prompting Professor Ferris to reflect on new urgencies for all concerned about refugees in a new opinion piece, 'After Trump’s election, we need to get creative on the refugee crisis'. The piece can be downloaded here: http://www.kaldorcentre.unsw.edu.au/publication/after-trump%E2%80%99s-election-we-need-get-creative-refugee-crisis
