Two fully-funded PhD positions are available in the Institute of Design and Assessment of Technology (HCI Group) at TU Wien (Vienna University of Technology) on the Horizon 2020 TEAM training network (Technology EnAbled Mental health for young people).

There has been considerable research and many commercial products for improving physical health. However, the use of technology to support mental health lags far behind. The aim of the training network is to deliver new applications and technologies that support rapid, large-scale early assessment, prevention and treatment of mental health issues in young people.

As part of the TEAM project there are two studentships at TU Wien:

PhD Position in Human Computer Interaction: Designing for resilience with unaccompanied migrant youth

PhD Position in Human Computer Interaction: Developing an inclusive technological toolkit to support prevention approaches

See http://igw.tuwien.ac.at/hci/open_positions for details of each position plus the submission requirements.

Applicants should have excellent experience, enthusiasm and skills in the areas of software architecture and engineering, ubiquitous computing, human-computer interaction, and computer science. Applicants must hold a good Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.

You will be based in the world-class HCI research group in the Institute of Design and Assessment of Technology at TU Wien (http://igw.tuwien.ac.at/hci/). There will be close collaborations with the other TEAM project partners and you will have the opportunity to work with them and the clinical organisations, which are part of the consortium. There are nine project partners, one from industry, two not-for-profit healthcare providers and six academic institutions (including two university hospitals), across five countries.

Applications due 12 January 2017.

For more information, please contact Geraldine Fitzpatrick (geraldine.fitzpatrick @ tuwien.ac.at)
