The Department of Radiology at the University of Calgary is accepting applications for a postdoctoral scholar to work with Dr. Catherine Lebel in the area of pediatric neuroimaging. Applicants should be interested in the neuroimaging investigations of brain development and brain abnormalities in developmental disorders.

Dr. Lebel is an Asssistant Professor in the Department of Radiology, and a member of the Child & Adolescent Imaging Research (CAIR) program at the Alberta Children’s Hospital. The CAIR program has a research-dedicated 3T MRI scanner and a rapidly growing program in pediatric brain imaging. Her research is supported by CIHR, NSERC, and NeuroDevNet. Dr. Lebel has substantial experience investigating structural brain development in childhood and brain abnormalities in children with brain disorders, including prenatal exposure to alcohol. Dr. Lebel collaborates closely with neuropsychologists, experts in mental health, and other neuroimaging researchers at the University of Calgary.

The postdoctoral scholar will work with Dr. Lebel to study relationships between structural and functional brain development and language ability in young children. This study aims to examine connections between prenatal factors (e.g., nutrition, maternal mental health), structural/functional brain changes as measured by MRI, and language development in early childhood. The project will involve advanced analysis and processing of longitudinal neuroimaging data from children aged 2-6 years.
