Dear colleagues
We are currently advertising a new Chair (Full Professor) in Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Bath in the UK.
This professorial appointment will help to expand the capacity of the Department of Psychology within any or all of our sub-disciplines – clinical, cognitive, developmental, health, and social – while offering significant expertise in cognitive neuroscience methods, such as EEG/ERP or fMRI techniques. Applications for this post are welcomed from established Professors, as well as Associate Professors/Readers/Senior Lecturers who can demonstrate a significant upward trajectory.
This is an exciting time for the department and the university. The Department occupies a new purpose-built five-floor building, containing two floors of laboratories, including state-of-the-art EEG/ERP, virtual reality, observation, psychobiology, eye-tracking, pain, cross-modal and computerised testing labs. In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF) exercise, staff were returned in different units of assessment, the largest of which (Allied Health Professions) obtained the highest REF2014 rating across the whole University. The University was ranked 12th overall in the UK in REF2014. The Department was placed second in the country in The Complete University Guide, The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2016. More information about the Department and its facilities can be found at: http://www.bath.ac.uk/psychology/
There are strong interdisciplinary links with other departments and universities, including the GW4 universities in the UK (Bath, Bristol, Cardiff, and Exeter) and numerous universities abroad (e.g., Brazil, China, South Africa). Bath is also a member of the ESRC South West Doctoral Training Partnership which funds PhD studentships, and the University has a bronze award from the Athena SWAN Charter Scheme. Both the Department and the University are committed to providing a supportive and inclusive working environment.
Then there is the city and the region: the University of Bath is situated in the beautiful UNESCO World Heritage City of Bath. Bath is just 15 minutes from Bristol by train and 90 minutes from London and Oxford.
