Dear all,
We would like to bring to your attention the IOP workshop “Self-assembly, recognition and applications” which will be held on 9 December 2016 at the University of Edinburgh.
The ability of molecules to autonomously organise into well-defined architectures and recognize other molecules opens exciting opportunities in the production of new functionalised surfaces, nanoparticles, and responsive materials with applications in diagnostics and targeted drug delivery, assay labelling, bioimaging, and biosensing. The multidisciplinary approach needed for the development of these novel devices calls for events bringing together scientist from traditionally distant areas of science.
This one day workshop seeks to gather together theoreticians and experimentalists from Physics to Life Sciences with the aim of exchanging knowledge and building up novel collaborations for synergistically solving real life problems in self-assembly, molecular recognition, and their applications.
Invited speakers:
Dr. Rebecca Notman (University of Warwick)
Dr. David Cheung (National University of Ireland, Galway)
Dr. Matteo Castronovo (University of Leeds)
Dr. Daniel Mitchell (University of Sheffield)
Registration is now available via https://www.iopconferences.org/iop/1019/home , and costs 40 GBP for non-IOP members (members pay a reduced fee of 20 GBP). Please register no later than 21 November.
We hope you’ll find this workshop interesting and relevant for your work and encourage submitting abstracts for contributed talks and/or posters. Please send your abstract to [log in to unmask] with “SARA2016 Abstract Submission” as the subject header and indicate your preference for a talk or a poster in your message. The deadline for abstract submission is 21 November.
We hope to see many of you in Edinburgh.
Best regards,
Dr. Sara Fortuna (University of Udine)
Dr. Marieke Schor (University of Edinburgh)
