Dear all,
Firstly, allow me to introduce myself to the group. My name is Jordan, and I am the current graduate intern for The University of Winchester Library. A focus of my role is to assist in the evaluation and reviewing of our information literacy scheme, currently in its second year. My task is to research evaluation techniques that will allow the subject librarians to reflect on current teaching methods, content and delivery to better ensure students come away from IL workshops more prepared and confident in finding and evaluating information.
So far, my research has led me towards academic papers and journals. However, I feel strongly that personal experience is also important, and thus I would like to ask you all about your own evaluation methods and how you have found them.
Specifically, I would like to ask:
• How do you currently evaluate IL sessions?
• Why did you choose that method?
• Are there disadvantages to your approach?
• How has it affected your approach to IL sessions?
• Would you like to implement any further changes?
Please contact me off-list with any information. Furthermore, if you have any insight or advice into evaluation and feedback that goes beyond the scope of this email, please get in touch; any responses would be very gratefully received. All responses will be collated and analysed and will be summarised for the list.
Kind regards,
Jordan Cleary
