Hi Anderson & FSL experts,
I am running PALM on my lab server, and after 4 hours, it has finished <1%. At this rate it will take 400 hours (16 days) to complete this process. Is this a reasonable amount of time I should expect that PALM has to run? Are there ways to make this process faster? Any advice would be appreciated. What kind of system is this usually run through? Do I need a certain speed of processing to make this a more feasible analysis method?
This is from the 3 designs sent in the previous email, with n 2000 permutations. I chose 2000 based on the examples on the PALM user guide. What is the lowest number of permutations that I should use to get a reliable result?
Relatedly, how do I run PALM through the command line? I could only get it to run through matlab, and I cannot figure out how to keep the matlab process running if I disconnect from the server and/or my computer falls asleep. This is necessary to figure out, given that it will take so many hours to complete. I have tried :
http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/100775-how-can-i-run-matlab-in-batch-mode-on-my-mac-when-i-log-in-remotely-so-that-the-process-runs-when-i
and http://www3.ee.surrey.ac.uk/FAQ/matlabnohup.html
but neither of these options actually keep the process running when I log out.
Thanks!
Michelle
