Dear Resiliencers,
This is to let you know about a couple of new developments.
First, we found in new qualitative research on heatwave plans conducted in Brussels and Amsterdam that
a) National heatwave plans do not easily reach care organisations,
b) Stakeholders in contact with vulnerable groups are less aware and prioritize heat less than other stakeholders
c) Tailored local action plans are needed to effectively avert the health burden of heatwaves
We think these findings suggest directions to increase resilience to disasters in European communities
Have a look at the paper here, it is open access

Second, to inform you that I recently joined the EC Joint Research Centre where I will work on Disaster Resilience of Food Security and Nutrition, with a focus on Sub-Saharan Africa. We are now revising different conceptual frameworks on resilience and would be very happy to hear about your works to underpin our empirical models.
Thanks in advance,
Jose
