Conference: Cities, Communities and Homes: Is the Urban Future Livable?

Place: University if Derby, UK
Dates: 22 – 23 June 2017.

Organised with the University of Derby this event is part of a series supported by a collection of UK publishers and universities including: The University of Derby, The University of the West of England, London South Bank University Liverpool and John Moores University, UCL Press and Libri Publishing. It is coordinated by the UK non-profit research organisation AMPS as part of its engagement with the UN Habitat University Initiative.

Themes:
This event is part of a global series of conferences and publications that critique multiple built environment issues:

Cities: Speakers include urban designers and regional planners.
Communities: Speakers include community activists, participatory design practices, sociologists studying community and local policy makers.
Homes: Speakers include housing professionals, architects developing affordable housing models, and regional policy makers on housing provision. 

Publications:
There will be a conference proceedings publication with its own ISSN. Delegates will also be considered for inclusion in two books series with UCL Press and Libri Publishing respectively. 

Keynotes:
Speakers this series include: Herman Hertzberger, RIBA Gold Medalist, 2012; Assemble, Turner Prize Winners, 2015; Stephen Hodder, CBE, President, RIBA, 2013-15 and others.

The host city:
A city of  the Industrial Revolution; home to some the UKs most impressive National Parks and stately homes; and a city promoting excellence in contemporary design and planning.
