We are looking for a person to work within The Open University’s Knowledge Media Institute in the context of the Rexplore project (http://technologies.kmi.open.ac.uk/rexplore/).
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a Research Assistant/Associate for a initial period of 6 months (until 30 June 2017), with strong possibility for renewal.
The person will work on Rexplore, a system which leverages novel solutions in large-scale data mining, semantic technologies and visual analytics, to provide an innovative environment for exploring and making sense of scholarly data. She/he will be part of a high-profile research team, under the supervision of Enrico Motta, Professor of Knowledge Technologies at KMi, The Open University.
Specific Tasks:
- Contributing to the creation of innovative algorithms for extracting information from research data and to forecast research dynamics.
- Integration and management of Big Data in the academic domain.
- Developing and testing the Rexplore technology as a service to be used by publishers and universities worldwide.
The appointment will be made on the Academic Grade 1 or Grade 2 Salary Scales for Research Staff, ranging from £28,982 to £35,609 pa depending on qualifications and experience.
