Dear all,
This event is in honour of Dan McKenzie, who will give the
William Smith Lecture during the meeting.
It is expected to draw a large audience so the organisers
have required that you register before submitting an abstract.
I suggest registering promptly to avoid disappointment!
RAS BGA members who are not GeolSoc members: unfortunately
you have to pay the non-member registration fee, which is
£200 (GeolSoc members £150), unless you are eligible for
other discounts - see the registration page.
Sheila Peacock,
list co-owner.

Dear fellow Geotectonics people
The 2017 William Smith meeting of the Geological Society of London is:
*Plate Tectonics at 50.*
3-5 October 2017.
at Burlington House, London.
On the 50th anniversary of the advent of the paradigm of plate tectonics, this three day meeting is convened to examine the state of the art and scope out new directions.
Invited contributors include:

The meeting will conclude with the 2017 William Smith lecture by Dan McKenzie.
There is an open call for papers for contributions that complement the array of invited speakers - reporting recent research on any aspect of tectonics and the associated disciplines that together feed into understanding the plate system and processes.
Contributions are invited for talks and posters.
The deadline for abstract submission is *31 May 2017* but we encourage submission and registration as early as possible to avoid disappointment (registration numbers are strictly limited). If you intend to submit an abstract you will need to register first.
