We invite you to our October 20th, Disability and Social Inclusion seminar
National Evaluation of Peer Support for People with Mental Health Difficulties
Speaker: Dr Rose Thompson, Mc Pin Foundation
In 2015 MIND were given funding by the National Lottery to increase the capacity of 9 regions in the UK in providing peer support for people with mental health problems. An evaluation of this capacity building work and of the benefits of peer support was commissioned as part of this programme. The McPin Foundation has led on the development of the qualitative research strand of this research and are currently in the process of completing data collection and analysis. This seminar will introduce the evaluation strategy and the use of peer researchers in the co-production of elements of this strategy. We will also explore some of the principles and values that we have identified as underpinning peer support in this context and explore how we are in the process of testing those principles and values against the experience of peers involved in peer support projects across the country.
