Are you able to:
su -
(enter the root password)
Also, does the password have non-alphabetic characters? It's fairly common for the VM's keyboard layout to not match your computers so you might actually have entered a different character than you thought if you subsequently fixed the keyboard layout to match. Try typing it into a terminal window (assuming you still have a login session) to see what actually comes out.
If you are not logged in at all then try clicking on 'Other' which should give you a username/password entry window which would allow you to try checking the keyboard or try logging into the root user account.
If you can't get this to work either then the quickest solution is indeed to re-download. If you had data in the VM then there are options to reset the password but in this instance try re-downloading.

When I tried to log onto FSL User, it says that there is an authentication failure. I am 100% sure I put in the correct password that I had just made, and I tried "fslroot" and "passwd" as well. Is there a way to reset the password or should i uninstall FSL fMRI and try again? Thanks.
