The Generations and Gender Programme (GGP) is a leading international social survey infrastructure that is currently undergoing significant developments and expansion. The GGP was established in 2001 and has since fielded a longitudinal survey on demographic change and family formation in 19 countries across the developed world. The data has resulted in more than 400 peer-reviewed publications and is used by over 4,000 users in 43 countries. To build on this success the GGP will be consolidating its activities over the next few years, including the planning of a new round of data collection in 2019. In order to do this the coordination team based at NIDI in the Hague will be hiring two new members of staff:
Data Technician
This position will help develop and coordinate the project’s technical implementation and data infrastructure. The work will involve collaborating with the existing coordination team in the development of the cross-national survey and ensuring that it is integrated with the wider data infrastructure. The key tasks for the position are:
- To develop and deploy the survey instrument in 2019.
- Manage, maintain and expand the GGP’s existing data collection
- To integrate the data collection process within the wider data infrastructure and ensure high data quality across the data lifecycle
- To stay informed about the latest developments in survey research (More Information: http://bit.ly/2eBl7H5).
International Liaison Officer.
This position will help develop and coordinate the project’s international network of stakeholders, partners and users. The work will involve extensive liaison with a variety of individuals and groups, as well as extensive travel commitments. There are significant opportunities for training and career development. The key tasks for the position are:
- To work with the Scientific Coordinator and Programme Manager to establish and maintain a network of governmental stakeholders in participating countries and Brussels.
- Responsibility for dissemination activities to various stakeholders (e.g. policy makers, civil society actors, researchers, the media and lay audiences) including maintaining an active social media presence
- Assistance in fundraising activities of the central coordination team and participating countries.
