Routledge has published a new book that establishes the “interview-article” - a “new genre” of academic writing. The book has been produced in conjunction with the research support team of academic librarians at AMPS. As a follow up the team is now seeking possible contributors to a special issue on ‘research support’ for the AMPS journal.
The book has been developed in the field of architectural history and theory. Ideally, contributions to the proposed special issue will connect to this subject area but, more importantly, they should relate to either the categories of “New Genre” or “Research Support” (see below)
Book Title: Reflections on Architecture, Society and Politics - Social and Cultural Tectonics in the 21st Century ISBN: 9781472456083

1. GENRE:
The genre developed by this book and used for this call is a variation on the interview format that:
Deepens the scholarly potential of interviews through extensive discourse interwoven within the text through expanded footnotes.
Offers additional information and alternative argumentation.
Adds to the main text through comprehensive bibliographies and specific references to further reading.
Allows interviewees to be discursive in answers and later return to their immediate responses and develop them into fuller and more considered pieces of writing.
2. RESEARCH SUPPORT:
The book on which the proposed Special Issue is based was produced with a team of academic librarians seeking to develop new modes of scholarly communication and research support. Their roles were to:
Help identify relevant sources to start the research
Analyse and filter materials
Follow up on issues raised in the ‘interview-article’ to develop the bibliography and interviewer text
Fact check the interview-article and help evaluate the validity of arguments
Anyone interested in research related to any of these features of the book and its production are welcome to make contact.
