The UK Data Archive has a short-term vacancy for an Archivist to conduct a project to review and organise materials relating to the history and development of the Archive, commencing as soon after 2 January 2017 as possible.
The candidate should have experience of archives management or of working in a library, archive or information service.
The post-holder will initiate and manage the creation of a well-ordered and easily maintainable collection of materials (mostly hard copy) relating to the history and development of the Archive. The collection should be set up so that it can be easily added to in the future.
This position will preferably be full-time for a fixed term of two months, or up to four months part-time (minimum 18 hours per week) would be considered, depending on the candidate.
Essential Criteria:
Undergraduate degree or equivalent; completed or studying for a postgraduate qualification in Archives, Library or Information Science; experience of archives management or working in a library, archive or information service; good written and oral communication skills; ability to work independently as well as part of a team; methodical and thorough approach to work planning; proficiency in MS Office, and an ability to meet the requirements of UK 'right to work' legislation.
Desirable Criteria:
Experience of project management; ability to communicate/present to a diverse set of audiences, and a knowledge and understanding of the social science landscape.
