At the risk of ending up making pleas to the list like Jamie does, here is the discussion that involved Geraldine that he said I was rude to her in. I have cut and pasted up till the point I left the discussion. I don't think I was as rude to her as Jamie claims. Here is the link:

I posted about my new book on F.B. and got a terrific response and even some sales. I post on here which is supposed to be something to do with poetry and the response is zero. The most depressing thing is that’s exactly the response I was expecting. It’s the most depressing poetry place I know. Think I might part company.

Do you only post things about your work here to get praise? Facebook is a better medium for that, it seems.
Jaime Robles
You should be aware, if you took interest in Geraldine’s work, that praise is not her reason or the basis of her writing.
Geraldine’s post was not about praise, but rather lack of interest, which given the quality of her work is questionable on any poetry list.
Though there is the issue of minimal recognition and congratulation among colleagues as well.
And your riposte is not an answer.
That’s all from me.

Thanks Jamie. I just find this place all very dreary these days. As for David Lace’s reply – he’s likes to insult people and his response is so beneath contempt I can’t even be arsed to tell him to go fuck himself. So I won’t bother.

Hi Geraldine, it was Jaime not me, in case there was any confusion, who stepped in but anyway I'd second her remarks. Auguri for the book which I look forward to reading, but it doesn't yet seem to be listed on the westhouse website?

Hi Jamie – yes – sorry I knew I was talking to Jaime I was in a bit of a rush and got the wrong spelling. But thanks for your support. My book should appear on the website – although the cover pic isn’t installed yet but you can bypass that and just email [log in to unmask]
Cheers,
Geraldine

Geraldine, if it's any consolation, I've been on this for years and years, and I don't know that anything I've ever posted has generated any kind of memorable response. That said, yr post registered in my mental catalogue of new books, and tho I didn't comment, I think putting the announcement out there in the world registers for folks in some sublime way. Plus we're FB friends and yr FB post never showed in my feed. Congrats on having a new book in the world. Hopefullysomeday, it'll be a Xexoxial title.

Geraldine, sorry if you thought my reply was insulting. I thought you were comparing the praise your publication announcements got on Facebook with the lack of praise for them here. It sounded as if you were complaining about not getting similar praise here. If it wasn’t a complaint then what was the reason for your post? Was it to get people to be critical of your announcements? I doubt it. I've seen many publication announcements posted here, and the vast majority have been ignored, so you shouldn’t feel singled out.

Hi mIEKAL - as I said I wasn't actually expecting any response and that's what I got. I think places like F.B. and Twitter etc have taken their toll on this listserve and it just seems a very sterile place to what it used to be. Although it used to also be a very bad tempered place as well! I'm not actually sure who's still here and if indeed it's worthwhile posting anything. I suppose there are still a few brave souls still here so maybe it's still got a bit of life in it.
Yes, you're observation of F.B. is right - it seems a bit arbitrary who gets postings. I try to manage it but I think it's actually managed by F.B. more than the users. Anyway good to hear you're still here and hard at work and keeping the world spinning. I may take you up on an Xexoxial title one day - when I've got my breath back. Cheers. G.
