Both the Possum Qwayo and the Unique Perspectives Housemate employ a hub linked to a tablet or smartphone via bluetooth.
The Qwayo is supplied as a package with both hub and tablet included. The hub can’t be purchased separately.
The housemate is different. It can be purchased as a housemate hub only or as a package including both hub and smartphone.
So far, in Lothian, we have purchased the housemate hub only and we have interfaced this to the service user's own smartphone. However this isn't equitable with qwayo provision and it also involves making changes to the service user's smartphone. But if we went the other way and installed the housemate as a hub/smartphone package then we would be supplying the service user with a smartphone which might be problematic.
I’m therefore interested to find out how other NHS departments involved in environmental control provision provide the housemate to service users. Are you tending to install the housemate hub only then link it to the service user's own smartphone or are you installing it as a housemate/smartphone package?
Any thoughts, advice gratefully received
yours sincerely
