The MRC Biostatistics Unit is seeking to appoint a Principal Research Associate to lead a new independent scientific programme to complement the Unit's established research portfolio.
The MRC Biostatistics Unit is one of Europe's leading biostatistics research institutions. Our focus is to deliver new analytical and computational strategies based on sound statistical principles for the challenging tasks facing biomedicine and public health.
Current research areas include: (i) design and analysis of randomised trials, (ii) evidence synthesis methods to inform health, (iii) methods for the analysis of complex longitudinal data and for stratified medicine, and (iv) modelling and inference in statistical genomics.
The successful applicant will receive a flexible funding package to establish a new team, in addition to research operating costs and set-up funding. They will also have the opportunity to attract bright and enthusiastic PhD students with access to the Unit's established fully-funded PhD programme, while postdoctoral group staff will benefit from the University of Cambridge's extensive career development training portfolio.
The successful candidate will have no responsibility for undergraduate teaching as the Biostatistics Unit is exclusively research orientated. Core-funding from the Medical Research Council gives long-term support for ambitious projects ensuring that staff can focus on their research.
Applicants should have an exciting research portfolio, strong international track record of relevant independent research and a proven ability to lead a research team pursuing original approaches to long-term research goals.
The Biostatistics Unit is located within the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, which provides an excellent environment for collaborative work on cutting edge medical research. The new group will have access to the excellent infrastructure and opportunities for integrating their research in the University of Cambridge.
This appointment will be made depending on achievements and experience.
