Hi Gwenan
We have a fairly comprehensive guide on member's records for our members, and state that we can only advise on retention for council records.
Any records relating to constituency or political work is the responsibility of the members, and is not part of the council's retention schedule. This is specifically because of the fact that these are not council records, and you should be cautious about providing advice on support on how these records are managed, in order to ensure they don't become FOI'able. I can recommend the advice provided by the ICO to members of parliament and elected officials, and the guidance provided by the Parliamentary Archives to members of parliament - which is in line with keeping the records separate.

Subject: Cabinet Members
Good morning,
Following Data Protection Training sessions for our Cabinet Members we've recieved a few enquiries in regards to how long they should be keeping their records.
Members support reocrds are covered in our retetion schedule but we have nothing specifically on the memebers own records.
Has anyone else covered this / could anyone advise on what would be appropriate?
Thank you very much,
Gwenan
