It’s sad, indeed, & I join us all in mourning Max’s death.
I met him first at La Trobe, on one of my early trips to Australia, when he generously arranged for me to read there. He was a fine host. I met him there twice, & enjoyed his company each time; & was glad to see him here on poetryetc, too, where his generosity of spirit has always been welcome. RIP, too soon.
