Hi everyone,
Our policy states that students must have their card with them to issue books. However, we have a "24-hour shelf" behind our enquiry desk on which a student who has forgotten their card may place a few books at a time for a maximum of 24 hours. This gives them time to come back with the card and issue the books.
I'm wondering how widespread this practice (letting patrons set aside books "safely" til they return with their card) is, and if the books are always kept for the student who set them aside, or if they might be issued to another patron in the meantime if they're in high demand.
Thanks so much for your help!
