An email for those eligible to be a PI of a NERC grant.
Date of importance: 16:00 on 30 September 2016
++++++++++++
All,
As you may know, the NERC are currently reviewing all their services and
facilities.
This includes the Geophysics Equipment Facility (SEISUK, Edinburgh, OBIF).
As part of this process NERC have asked for input from the community to
help them prioritise what services and facilities are needed over the
next 5-10 years.
It is possible that some services and facilities may not be renewed, so
this call is an opportunity for us to let NERC know how valued GEF is by
the geophysics community, demonstrate what the community demand for it
is, and describe what strategic and internationally important science
within the NERC remit that it underpins.
The key information from NERC communique on this is:
i) The approach for identifying services and facility priorities
includes the bottom up generation of ideas or identification of 'areas
of strategic need'.
ii) NERC is inviting the research community to provide evidence of
future needs for the services and facilities within their portfolio via
an online (but short) questionnaire.
iii) This consultation will close at 16:00 on 30 September 2016.
iv) To participate go to the short survey at
https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/9Q2JLD5
It would be great if the future need for GEF could be identified and
supported by the NERC community of researchers, and it will just take a
few minutes of your time.
Regards
Chris
