Very few poets interest me these days. But the “quirks and idiocies of poe-biz”, as you describe it, do interest me. I’m fascinated with poets’ ideas about the significance of other poets, and who should be considered significant and who shouldn’t. It’s like the Turner Prize for grown-ups.

Stimulation, at least in its original sense of being goaded into action, isn't really what I read poems for. But I think Heaney is an outstandingly good poet.
By taking it literally, David, you avoided my question about which poets keep you awake. I was thinking that in all your postings to the list I can't remember a single positive reference to any poet. If I'm right about that, I'm wondering what makes you interested in the phenomenon at all - just the quirks and idiocies of poe-biz?
