Stimulation, at least in its original sense of being goaded into action, isn't really what I read poems for. But I think Heaney is an outstandingly good poet.
By taking it literally, David, you avoided my question about which poets keep you awake. I was thinking that in all your postings to the list I can't remember a single positive reference to any poet. If I'm right about that, I'm wondering what makes you interested in the phenomenon at all - just the quirks and idiocies of poe-biz?
