Lecturer in Informatics
Department of Informatics, College of Science and Engineering,
University of Leicester, UK
Salary Grade 8 - £38,183 to £46,924 per annum
Permanent contract
Ref: SEN00780
The University of Leicester is a world-leading institution, marked by a
belief in the synergy of research and teaching. With over 23,000
students, including 4,300 from overseas, and 3,800 staff, including over
1,200 active researchers, we believe a university should empower,
inspire and innovate. Under the leadership of our new President and
Vice-Chancellor, Professor Paul Boyle, the University is entering an
exciting new phase of development with an ambitious and transformative
agenda for 2020 and beyond.
The Department of Informatics is growing its capability for
interdisciplinary and applied research while maintaining a strong
presence in the core discipline. As part of this strategy, which will be
delivered through a number of appointments over the coming year, we seek
an excellent researcher and teacher to help us develop one of two key
areas where potential for interdisciplinary work is strongest across our
University: Human Computer Interaction, and Knowledge Discovery and
Machine Learning.
You will be expected to conduct high-level innovative research and
teaching, including the publication of research, development of teaching
materials, research supervision and income generation through research
grants, consultancy, and/or knowledge transfer, as well as contribute to
the work of the new research institutes, such as the Leicester Institute
for Space and Earth Observation and the Leicester Precision Medicine
Institute.
A lecturer position in the UK is similar to an assistant professorship
in the North-American system.
