The Forum for Czech and Slovak Studies (UK) invites scholars, including postgraduate students and independent scholars, in History, Politics, Sociology and Geography; Languages and Linguistics; Film and Media Studies; Literatures and Cultures and Economics to present a short (15-minute) paper to an interdisciplinary panel on the theme of Czechs and Slovaks Abroad at the BASEES (British Association for Slavonic and East European Studies) conference being held at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge 31 March-2 April 2017.
Talks, which should last no more than 15-20 minutes, may be on any aspect of the theme of Czechs and/or Slovaks abroad. Presentations might include discussion of settled Czech/Slovak communities in Europe or in the New World; refugees; forced or voluntary exiles; linguistic minorities; guest workers; émigrés; legal and illegal immigrants; and many other topics.
