==Unit==
The MRC Clinical Trials Unit at UCL is a centre of excellence for clinical trials, meta-analyses and epidemiological studies. Work within the Unit falls into one of three main themes: Infectious Disease, Cancer and other Non-Infectious Diseases, and Methodology. The Unit currently employs around 200 multidisciplinary staff, including 45 statisticians.
==Post==
We are looking for a Statistician to join our friendly team working on international and highly anticipated trials for men with prostate cancer. You will be expected to provide statistical advice, prepare and present reports and develop statistical analysis plans and working procedures. The post is funded for 3 years in the first instance. The activities will involve working within multi-disciplinary teams on a portfolio of randomised controlled trials within the CTU's Cancer Theme, including STAMPEDE and RADICALS. These are two large, international and highly-anticipated trials for men with prostate cancer, each using efficient approaches to addressing multiple relevant questions. The main duties include:
:: Responsibility for statistical aspects of eg Preparation and presentation of reports of analyses for Independent Data Monitoring Committees, developing statistical analysis plans and working procedures
:: Day-to-day management of statistical aspects, including liaising with Trial Managers and Data Managers and programmers about data quality and missing data, working to ensure high quality data
==Person==
An MSc in Medical Statistics (or closely related subject) or a BSc in Statistics is essential. To be successful in this role you should have practical experience in clinical trials or related work experience, good understanding of statistical concepts. The candidate should have excellent computer skills, including using Microsoft Office packages. The department encourages a spirit of co-operation and all members of staff are expected to volunteer help to busy colleagues if able when the need arises. The post holder will carry out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as requested by the line manager or Head of Department/Division. The post-holder will receive close support and supervision, while increasingly taking responsibility for organising and managing their own workload.
