The Chair of Computer Science in Architecture at the Bauhaus-University Weimar is offering a position for a research assistant (50%, 20h / week). The position starts at 01.11.2016 and is initially limited to 2 years. It can be extended by 2 more years.
Task description:
You are working in a collaborative research project between the EiABC Addis Abeba and the Bauhaus-University Weimar. The focus of the project lies on parametric master-planning of emerging cities in Ethiopia. The project compiles urban design, building systems and water/wastewater infrastructure into a integrated planning strategy that supports the participatory creation of cities.
The open position focuses on the development of a digital (parametric) model that integrates the different planning aspects and serves as a platform for simulating urban developments. Therefore the parametric modelling tools Grasshopper for Rhino and Autodesk Revit are used as modelling environments.
You are working together with a team of experts in Urban Design, Environmental Engenieering and Computational Planning both from Ethiopia and Germany.
Requirements:
You hold a university degree (B.Sc. / M.Sc.) in computer science, architecture, civil engineering or similar. You have strong skills in urban modelling, network analysis, programming (e.g. C#, Python), sound knowledge in urban design and you are detail-oriented and able to think at an abstract scientific level. Your English skills (spoken and written) are very good. Furthermore you are highly motivated, showing individual initiative and willingness for multidisciplinary teamwork.
