Please find attached details of a fully funded PhD studentship at Newcastle University: "Research Excellence Academy Studentship in Prehistoric fuel use in the archaeological record: developing the potential of ash through integrating microfossil analysis and geochemistry". The PhD will focus on developing methods for fingerprinting experimental ash samples using a range of geochemical and microscopic techniques, and apply these results to an archive of archaeological ash samples from Catalhoyuk and other sites. The PhD is supervised at Newcastle University, School of History, Classics and Archaeology, by Dr Lisa Shillito, and Universitat Pompeu Fabra by Prof. Marco Madella. The funding is available to students from the UK, EU and international.
