Whatever the gentleman's state of mind may or may not be, he still has an elegant turn of phrase (in my opinion), and I see no reason not to offer my admiration

I think the poor bloke is unwell and although engaging in conversation with him would be a mistake, I don't think we ought to be making light of his obvious mental illness. I have enough work on my plate as it is without screening jocular emails.
