Hi Sarah,
We have a number of training courses coming up at the Royal Society of Biology. We do not currently have any upcoming which are directly on science communication, but I think that the below courses would be relevant to those working in science communication. Please let me know if you are able to include any of these in the BIG newsletter.
Many thanks and best wishes,
Naomi

Mental Health in the Workplace Training Course – 6 September 2016
Time: 2pm to 5:30pm
Venue: Royal Society of Biology, Charles Darwin House, 12 Roger Street London, WC1N 2JU
Focusing on how we can create a psychologically healthy working environment
Your health, and that of your colleagues, should be one of your top priorities in the workplace. Mental health is no exception, and creating a working environment that is psychologically healthy is a shared responsibility. A strong foundation for this is a workplace where mental health can be openly and honestly discussed. We also need to do all we can to control work pressures, and to live healthy lives that nurture positive wellbeing.
This half-day workshop will help you to build your awareness of the range of mental health issues that we can experience. It will focus on how we can create a psychologically healthy working environment and improve our wellbeing inside and outside of work.
Further information and booking is available on the Royal Society of Biology website: https://www.rsb.org.uk/events/event_mentalhealthintheworkplace
Unconscious Bias Training Course – 13 September
Time: 2pm to 5pm
Venue: Royal Society of Biology, Charles Darwin House, 12 Roger Street London, WC1N 2JU
It is now acknowledged that in addition to eradicating discrimination and bias within an organisation it is important to consider the role of unconscious bias on individual behaviours and the impact it is having on your ability to create an open, fair and inclusive workplace culture for all.
This half day awareness building course aims to educate staff and managers so that they can lead by example in the quest to change mind-sets and create a more diverse and inclusive workplace.
Further information and booking is available on the Royal Society of Biology website: https://www.rsb.org.uk/events/event_unconsciousbiastraining
An Introduction to Project Management – 19 September
Time: 9:30am – 5pm
Venue: Royal Society of Biology, Charles Darwin House, 12 Roger Street London, WC1N 2JU
A course for those who have recently become involved in or responsible for project management but who have limited or no experience or training.
Following the success of the previous course in previous years, the Society continues to offer this one-day introductory course.
The course tutor Cliff Collis worked as a communications specialist for a large drug company, working with drug development teams in knowledge/issue management for meetings with upper company managers and regulators to progress new drugs through the development process.
